Help empower youth and support local artists by donating to the KTUB Artist Residency Program. Your contribution will provide mentorship opportunities and hands-on learning experiences for the next generation.
4 Tomorrow was founded to bridge the gaps in culturally responsive human services for Latinx/Spanish-speaking populations and youth across our community. We’ve expanded quickly, now serving at Redmond's Together Center, Bellevue Safe Parking, and the Kirkland Teen Union Building (KTUB).
This year, we’re excited to launch a new Artist Residency Program at KTUB, where local artists will be compensated to share their talents and mentor youth through rotating residencies. These residencies will cover a wide range of art forms—sculpture, filmmaking, music, painting, and more—providing students with hands-on learning experiences from experts in the field.
Your support will not only empower youth by giving them access to diverse artistic perspectives but also provide local artists with the space and fair compensation to share their skills. Join us in creating a thriving, inclusive artistic community!
Program DescriptionThe Kirkland Teen Union Building (KTUB) will provide space and access to equipment and supplies to create art of many modalities. This grant seeks to expand access to provide training and support from professionals in their field to the students at KTUB.

Join us in celebrating African culture at the 2025 African Fashion Show in Kirkland! Our youth have spoken – they want a space to embrace their roots, share their heritage, and proudly connect with the community. Now, we need your support to bring this vision to life!
Picture this: a runway alive with the colors, patterns, and styles of Africa. Bold traditional fabrics, stunning contemporary designs, and the rich stories woven into every garment. Before the show, you will walk through a bustling marketplace, where local African vendors display their crafts and wares. You will taste the flavors of Africa, as local caterers serve up dishes that remind us of home. The air will be filled with the sounds of African beats spun by talented DJs, setting the tone for a joyous and unforgettable evening.
But this is more than just a fashion show. It’s a gathering of community – an opportunity for African youth and families to proudly share their culture, and for everyone to come together and learn. Your support will help us create this space, uplift local African businesses, and bring our community closer.
Will you join us in celebrating African culture? With your help, we will fill this space with pride, joy, and the spirit of Africa!
Listening sessions with Black, African, and first-generation African youth revealed their desire to learn more about their cultural heritage and have spaces where they can embrace their beliefs without judgment. Parent feedback echoed these concerns. A fashion show was identified as a way to celebrate West African and other African cultures, where local African vendors and artists can participate in implementing the program and showcasing their talents.
About Africans on the EastsideEstablished in 2020 501(c)3 in February 2024 in Bellevue, WA, the mission of Africans on the Eastside (AOE) is to serve the diverse needs of youth and their families through crisis intervention and referral, outreach, engagement, education, culture-affirming programming, advocacy training, and leadership opportunities.
Africans on the Eastside is led by two women of African descent and primarily, but not exclusively, provides services to Black and African families and youth. These groups often face difficulties accessing human services due to language barriers, religious differences, bias, and cultural barriers in institutions and from individual service providers. AOE’s mission is grounded in the need to facilitate a process that enables the design and implementation of comprehensive strategies to identify and remove race-based barriers to education, justice, and access to human services. It also empowers youth and families to create strategies to address the challenges in their own lives.
This summer, local artist Austin Picinich led Finn Hill residents of all ages in a community art project at DennyFest, painting large wooden salmon cutouts to celebrate our connection to nature and the importance of salmon restoration. Now, we're ready for the final step: installing these vibrant, hand-painted salmon at O.O. Denny Park to inspire and educate everyone who visits.
Your donation will help us bring this project to life, highlighting the beauty of our local streams and the importance of restoring salmon to Denny Creek. In collaboration with ichthyologist Jeff Jensen, this installation will not only add a splash of color to the park but also emphasize the need for clean, thriving waterways.
By supporting this project, you’re helping create a lasting, visual reminder of the role we all play in preserving our natural environment. Together, we can turn this community art into a symbol of hope and restoration for hundreds of visitors to the park.
About the Project This is a community art project conceived by artist Austin Picinich, who also supervised a community art mural on the backside of Spuds Fish & Chips near Juanita Beach Park. Austin has led various environmentally themed mural projects. For this project, he cut marine plywood into large (4-foot-long) salmon profiles and then guided Finn Hill residents of all ages in painting them during FHNA's DennyFest celebration on August 17. After making final touches and varnishing the fish, we are now coordinating with the City on their installation at O.O. Denny Park. About Finn Hill Neighborhood AllianceMission and History: The Finn Hill Neighborhood Alliance was founded in 1996 as the Denny Creek Neighborhood Alliance (DCNA) with a mission to protect O.O. Denny Park from a possible sale to real estate developers. Since then, the organization has worked to restore Denny Creek, preserve the Juanita Woodlands as green space, and maintain trails in Finn Hill parks.
Following the annexation of Finn Hill by the City of Kirkland, DCNA became the Finn Hill Neighborhood Alliance (FHNA), an official Kirkland neighborhood association. FHNA has collaborated with the City to update tree codes, develop the Finn Hill neighborhood plan within the City’s comprehensive plan, and design traffic plans for Juanita Drive and Holmes Point Drive. FHNA is also working with both the City and King County to acquire woodlands on Finn Hill to create the Finn Hill Green Loop, linking parks and trails on Finn Hill and connecting to Juanita Beach Park and pathways in Kenmore and Bothell.
In recent years, FHNA has partnered with the City and King County to expand Juanita Heights Park and Big Finn Hill Park as part of the Green Loop initiative, fulfilling its mission to preserve and enhance Kirkland's green spaces.

This is a transition year for KCS; our previous Artistic Director retired to an emeritus status last season after 25 years with us, and this season we are “auditioning” three terrific candidates to succeed him. As part of this transition, we are seeking to make a modest upgrade in compensation for this crucial role.
Kirkland Choral Society helps make Kirkland a richer, more well-rounded place to live. Year after year, our intelligent, inspiring performances continue to prove that Kirklanders don’t have to travel to Seattle for outstanding choral music—it’s available right here at home!
Program DescriptionNonprofit arts groups fortunate to be located in large cities have an advantage over those in smaller communities due to the broader patronage and donor bases available to them. Many nonprofit arts organizations in smaller communities struggle to pay their leaders as well as they deserve.
An Ignite Kirkland grant will enable Kirkland Choral Society to update the salary for our Artistic Director position closer to what our peer organizations—community choirs similar to KCS in size and musical excellence—are able to pay in Seattle.
Kirkland Choral Society is a beloved Kirkland institution that has been providing beautiful, uplifting music FOR our community, created BY our community, for over 35 years.
About Kirkland Choral SocietyBegun in 1988 with only eight voices, Kirkland Choral Society today is one of the premier symphonic adult choral groups in the Puget Sound region, featuring approximately 100 highly skilled, auditioned singers. Our mission is to create and sustain a community where the power of choral music uplifts and unites all people and voices.
KCS performs classical masterworks for chorus and orchestra as well as exciting modern works by contemporary composers. We collaborate regularly with the Philharmonia Northwest community orchestra, Lake Washington High School choir students, and acclaimed professional guest musicians.
A core value at Kirkland Choral Society is that anyone with a successful audition is welcome to join us, no matter their economic circumstances. We also keep our concert ticket prices as low as possible, to encourage everyone to come and be warmed, uplifted, and encouraged by magnificent choral music. We are honored and gratified to know that KCS brings joy to thousands in our community every year.
About the Program
For its 2025-2026 season, Kirkland Civic Orchestra will feature three guest conductors as part of our search for a new music director. These three finalists will conduct a regular season concert, giving players and audience members to get to know them. KCO will offer a stipend to defray travel and lodging costs for the candidates. Because this is a significant new direction for our orchestra, we are asking the community to step up with funding to allow us to expand our search beyond the immediate Puget Sound area.
About the Kirkland Civic Orchestra Kirkland Civic Orchestra seeks to enrich the lives of all members of our community through unique and high-quality musical experiences by developing the musical abilities, interests, and music appreciation of members of the Greater Bellevue/Kirkland/Eastside in Washington State, and by enhancing the total music experience available to these musicians by outreach to and cooperation with other educational, music, and artistic/performance institutions in the area.

About the ProgramKirkland Performance Center (KPC) respectfully requests a grant from Ignite Kirkland to support key technical equipment and software purchases for our 2025 KPC Studios. These upgrades will enable KPC Studios to offer unique classes like audio engineering, video editing, and sound mixing for over 350 students of all ages. In 2022, KPC was granted a 3,500-square-foot building, rent-free for ten years, to create an educational space for music and recording arts. The facility now houses a state-of-the-art recording studio and is a hub for a wide range of workshops, classes, and training sessions, including beginner ukulele, group voice lessons, beginner songwriting, and more. We have the interest and teaching artist capabilities to offer more unique classes like audio engineering and video editing, but we lack the necessary software and equipment. To bridge this gap, we seek a critical $5,000 grant to enhance our technical capabilities by supporting the purchase of essential equipment, including computers and video monitors, audio monitors, audio interfaces, and audio processing equipment. With this support, Ignite Kirkland will unlock a variety of new opportunities that foster creativity and skill development within our vibrant community.

Backstage’s Founder and Executive Director, Kari Hovde, took her first dance lesson at the age of five, at Olympic Ballet in Edmonds, WA. She has taught dance for 27 years, sharing her passion with countless students young and old.
In fall 2021, after years of careful preparation, she launched The Backstage Foundation. She founded the organization with the vision of assisting youth (ages six to 19) who are underserved by arts enrichment programs focused on dance and performing arts. The organization will reach an estimated 545-plus dancers locally and nationally by the end of 2024 through scholarships and performing opportunities. The organization's vision is that no dancer should have to miss out on a chance that will introduce them to dance, grow their skills, inspire their life motivations, and build their character as long as we in the community have a means to propel them forward.

The Kirkland Downtown Association (KDA) has a longstanding tradition of transforming downtown Kirkland into a vibrant holiday destination by lighting trees, rooflines, and Marina Park. This festive atmosphere creates a warm, inviting space for residents and visitors alike, fostering a sense of community and enhancing local business activity during the holiday season. A poll in Kirkland a few years ago indicated that the Winter lighting and Winterfest activities were a favorite of the community.
However, the costs associated with our annual holiday lighting program have doubled in recent years due to rising material and labor expenses. To maintain this beloved tradition, we are seeking funding to cover these increased costs and ensure the continuation of our holiday lighting display. The lighting not only brightens the streets but also brings holiday cheer, encourages tourism, and supports local businesses by attracting shoppers to downtown Kirkland.
With your support, we aim to preserve this cherished community event that brings joy to families, friends, and visitors. The funding will directly help with the installation and maintenance for the holiday lights, helping us keep Kirkland beautifully illuminated throughout the festive season.

Support the Kids Program at the Wednesday Market! Help us expand this fun and educational experience for children in our community.
This year, we launched our Kids Program at the Wednesday Market to connect children with the local food system in fun and meaningful ways. In partnership with the Power of Produce (POP) Club, we created hands-on activities where kids learned about farming, healthy eating, and local produce while engaging with farmers and participating in educational games.
Each child received market vouchers to spend on fruits and vegetables, empowering them to make their own shopping decisions and support local vendors. This program not only brought families together but also created a vibrant, inclusive community space that promotes healthy habits and supports small farms.
With over 200 kids participating in our first year, we’re excited to grow this program even further! The Kirkland Student Literacy Challenges engage 4th-5th graders in the Amazing Reading Challenge and 7th-8th graders in the Battle of the Books. These year-long programs foster literacy skills, teamwork, and community spirit as students explore diverse books and compete in friendly competitions.
Your contribution will provide five copies of each selected book to students in eleven elementary and three middle schools, supporting over 2,800 young readers. Help us build a community that values education, lifelong learning, and personal growth—one book at a time.
About the ProgramThe Kirkland Student Literacy Challenges promote literacy and build community among young students through two engaging academic competitions: the Amazing Reading Challenge and Battle of the Books. The Amazing Reading Challenge, designed for 4th and 5th graders, encourages reading comprehension and interpersonal skills by engaging students with diverse and accessible texts. Likewise, the Battle of the Books inspires 7th and 8th graders to explore high-quality, diverse literature across various genres and reading levels. Both programs emphasize reading comprehension, academic excellence, cooperative learning, and teamwork. Students collaborate in teams, participate in practice sessions, and engage in school-based competitions that assess their understanding of the texts. These challenges conclude with exhilarating final “battles” that not only bolster community spirit but also celebrate academic achievement and provide an opportunity for children to form lasting friendships. Through these year-long challenges, students discover diverse literary works, ignite their passion for reading, and celebrate intellectual accomplishments. Your support will ensure equitable access to these valuable opportunities and promote a lifelong love of reading in Kirkland schools.

About the Program
The State Street Community Garden, established in August 2024 by St. John’s Episcopal Church in collaboration with Girl Scout Troop #45431, is a new initiative aimed at fostering community engagement and sustainability. As a new project, we are working to build awareness and recruit volunteers to make the garden self-sustaining. We seek funding to purchase gardening supplies, host a spring gardening event, and raise community involvement through educational workshops and outreach efforts, ensuring long-term sustainability and impact.
Mission and History: Safe Parking is a program for women and families living in their cars. We recognize that people who are homeless and have a vehicle face challenges in where to park their car without fear of tickets or harassment. We also recognize that homelessness can be isolating and the benefits of community and relationships can be life-transforming. We at Lake Washington United Methodist Church offer our parking lot to guests as a safe place to park, sleep in their cars, and become part of our church community. We opened in 2011, transformed in 2013, and continue to grow and change.
Join us in turning an unsightly utility box on 7th Avenue into a vibrant historical display that showcases Kirkland’s rich heritage. Your donation will bring this vision to life!
Kirkland is filled with rich history, and we want to bring a piece of that past to life! Our goal is to cover a utility box with historical photos and information, highlighting the importance of Piccadilly Ave (now 7th) to the founding of Kirkland.
This project will create a unique, interpretive display at a historic location, giving our community a chance to connect with the roots of our city in a fun and engaging way. We’ve partnered with local historians to gather photos and stories, but we need your support to make this vision a reality.
Your donation will help us turn an ordinary utility box into a cultural landmark, fostering a deeper appreciation for Kirkland’s heritage. Together, we can make our streets not just a path through the city, but a journey through time. Will you help us bring this piece of history to life?

About Friends of YouthDriven by a belief that all youth should have every opportunity to succeed, Friends of Youth partners with youth and families to provide the resources and skills they need to attain personal growth and success. Founded in 1951, Friends of Youth partners with children, youth, and families experiencing difficult circumstances including homelessness, child welfare systems, behavioral health concerns, and instability. We support a wide range of vulnerable, diverse, and marginalized communities, including youth of color, LGBTQ+ youth, and refugee and immigrant youth, all of whom have been impacted by traumatic events.
The young people we serve often face unique challenges due to the transitional nature of their age, such as mental illness and substance dependency, which may be surfacing for the first time in their lives or are learning to parent while learning to live independently. Importantly, these young people are not just vulnerable, but are also vibrant, capable, and resilient individuals who regularly overcome challenges many of us never have to encounter.
Your contribution will help NAMI Eastside expand mental health support and education for underserved communities, including AAPI, BIPOC, Spanish speakers, LGBTQ+, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Join us in reaching those who need it most.
Your donation will fund new support groups, workshops, and presentations to educate youth and provide essential resources. It will also help train volunteers from diverse backgrounds to lead these efforts, ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need.

About the ProgramAs an organization, NAMI Eastside offers peer-led, structured support to people with mental health conditions and family members. This first-person perspective guides us as we expand our support groups to serve historically underserved or underrepresented communities. We have made strides toward increased inclusivity but need further funding to continue our mission to destigmatize mental health conditions. Our focus with these funds will be to engage the AAPI, BIPOC, Spanish speakers, LGBTQ+, and houseless neighbors with peer and family support groups here in Kirkland. Additionally, we will seek to serve Kirkland youth with presentations and workshops to educate them about mental illness and develop tools to support their mental well-being.

Your support will help expand our Women’s Self-Defense program, making life-saving training accessible to more women in our community. Join us in creating a safer Kirkland where every woman can feel confident and protected.
Violence against women is a harsh reality, with 1 in 3 women facing the threat of harassment or assault in their lifetime. Even in a safe community like Kirkland, this statistic is staggering. Our program offers a safe, empowering space for women—cis, trans, and nonbinary—to learn self-defense skills and build confidence.
Your donation will fund a marketing campaign to raise awareness, reduce barriers to participation, and train more female instructors to lead our classes. Together, we can ensure that women of all ages have access to these life-changing programs and help build a safer, more positive community.
About the ProgramWe believe strongly in empowering women and girls in our community and ensuring they have tools to protect themselves and the confidence to use those tools if the need arises. Our project is aimed at expanding our existing program to increase access to the program for women in the local Kirkland community. Additionally we are working on increasing community connections and awareness about the program through various marketing tools. We believe that by raising awareness about our program and improving access to the program, we build a more positive community and help prevent violence against women.
About Oom Yung Doe Kirkland
At its heart, Traditional Martial Arts is about building yourself to your highest potential both physically and mentally. This is the message that Oom Yung Doe Kirkland, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was organized to share with our local community. Our mission is to promote health and wellness in our community through Traditional Martial Arts movement and principles. We believe that by helping individuals improve their physical condition, their minds become calmer and more focused. Through having a clearer mind, they are better able to handle the stresses of everyday life, leading to more positive relationships and stronger, healthier communities.
Historically, many of the benefits from Traditional Martial Arts have been reserved for those who dedicate years to their practice as a form of “secret” knowledge. We believe that these movements are too powerful not to share with as many people as possible. Whether a student is four years old, eighty-four years old, or anything in between, students start wherever they are and progress at their own pace. Movements are taught in a holistic and balanced way that is transformational for any age or condition to help students achieve complete balance of the mind, body, and spirit.
Oom Yung Doe, the style of Traditional Martial Arts that we practice, has been taught in the United States for over 50 years and in East Asia for centuries. Oom Yung Doe Kirkland was originally organized as a for-profit business serving the Kirkland community in 2002. We came to recognize that our mission, values, and operation style were more suited to being a nonprofit, and in 2017 we reorganized into our current form as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This shift was met with overwhelming support from our community members, who helped us smash through some of our original five-year goals in just two years.
We provide gas cards, car repair funds, hand warmers, items of daily living, and move-in funds for our guests, and eviction/crisis prevention funds for our former guests. Our office staff and leadership assesses the needs of guests, either through activity on the property, or direct requests for assistance from individual guests. The women and families that stay at LWUMC Safe Parking are able to ask for what they need, and we can respond to those needs with little red tape or overhead. This is flexible to suit the exact need that a person expresses to improve their lives.
About Safe Parking at LWUMC Safe Parking is a program for women and families living in their cars. We recognize that people who are homeless and have a vehicle face challenges in where to park their car without fear of tickets or harassment. We also recognize that homelessness can be isolating and the benefits of community and relationships can be life-transforming.

Our first responders work tirelessly to protect and serve Kirkland every day, and now they need your support to ensure their own well-being. Stronger Families is bringing the OXYGEN Department Wellness Training to 40 local first responders to boost their mental health, strengthen their relationships, and prevent burnout. Your donation will provide these heroes with a unique, hands-on training experience, including personality assessments and workshops focused on stress management, communication, and relationship building. By equipping them with these tools, you’re helping them thrive both on and off the job. Investing in their wellness creates a ripple effect—a happier, healthier team of first responders leads to a safer and more connected Kirkland. Show your gratitude and support for those who keep our community safe by making a contribution today.
About the Program
Stronger Families will facilitate one OXYGEN Department Wellness Training for 40 Kirkland first responders, with the goal of improving the relational wellness and mental health of each participant. At the program’s onset, participants will each complete a personality assessment, providing an integrative framework for understanding individual communication and behavioral styles. Participants will then engage in a comprehensive and interactive training, learning alongside other first responders in a welcoming environment that encourages both vulnerability and growth. At the program's end, each first responder will have received training and resources with a proven track record of increasing relational wellness and overall well-being, leading to healthier relationships at work and at home.
About Stronger Families
Originally founded in 1989 as a grassroots organization, Stronger Families serves first responders and military service members through programming that improves relational wellness and mental health. In 2010, Noel Meador was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the organization and co-created the OXYGEN program. Exposed to trauma and chronic stress at work, first responders and service members are at a higher risk of substance abuse, divorce, and suicide than the general population. Frequently, these heroes suffer in silence, hiding mental health struggles and ignoring signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. Understaffed and overworked, departments lack resources to help their teams recover from daily trauma. Stronger Families fills this void. In 2010, the organization developed OXYGEN, an eight-part curriculum delivered through workshops, seminars, and retreats designed specifically for those who serve. While exploring individual drivers, motivators, and communication styles, the program covers topics such as how to communicate effectively, lead from one’s strengths, bridge the gap between work and home, collaborate through conflict, and manage life’s transitions. First responders and service members put their lives on the line every day to ensure the health and safety of our communities, and the goal of Stronger Families is to support these heroes both at work and at home. By empowering first responders and service members with the tools to handle conflict, communicate effectively, and navigate transitions, Stronger Families helps to heal individuals and families, ultimately impacting entire communities. Stronger heroes = safer communities.
Donate Now to Help Launch Rick’s Locker: Level the Playing Field for All Kids!
Your support will give kids the sports gear they need to participate in activities that promote health, confidence, and inclusivity. Help us make this program a reality!
We’re excited to introduce Rick's Locker, an innovative program designed to ensure that all grade school students have equal access to sports clothing and equipment, promoting physical activity and inclusivity. But we need your support to make it happen!
For many students, the cost of sports gear is a barrier to participating in activities that are essential for their health and social development. Rick's Locker aims to bridge this gap by providing financial assistance directly to students, allowing them to choose and purchase the sports gear they need—fostering a sense of ownership, dignity, and inclusivity.
Your donation will help us partner with sporting goods suppliers to provide preloaded gift cards or lines of credit for students in grades 5-12 who face financial barriers to participating in sports. With the support of Toys for Kids and our nonprofit partners, we’ll identify and assist these young athletes, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has the chance to play, grow, and thrive.
By supporting Rick's Locker, you’re not just buying sports equipment—you’re empowering children to embrace physical activity, build confidence, and be part of a team. Let’s work together to create a community where every child has a fair shot at success in sports and in life. Will you help us kick off this game-changing program?
About the project
We are seeking funding to launch “Rick's Locker,” an innovative pilot program designed to ensure that grade school students have equal access to sports clothing and equipment, thereby promoting physical activity and inclusivity in sports.
About Toys for Kids
Since 1995, Toys for Kids has been raising funds and organizing toy distributions to ensure that every child in need has access to the joy of play. At Toys for Kids, our mission is to make sure children and families who are less fortunate know that they are not forgotten. What began as a grassroots effort - by the Mariners’ own radio announcer Rick Rizzs and outfielder Dave Henderson - is now a robust multi-program organization whose ambitious vision is to reduce barriers to success for every young person living in the state of Washington.
Your support will ensure that Kirkland 2nd graders will gain the essential life skill of water safety. Together, we can make this happen!
Water safety is a vital skill, especially in our region surrounded by lakes and rivers. SPLASHForward’s Every 2nd Grader Learns to Swim program aims to give every 2nd grader in Kirkland the chance to learn this essential life skill. We need your support to make this vision a reality!
In partnership with the Lake Washington School District, PTSAs, and WAVE Aquatics, we will provide free swim lessons during school hours at Juanita High School Pool at no cost to participants. With your support, we can ensure that 65-90 students from schools like John Muir, Robert Frost, and Thoreau Elementary, including those from low-income families, receive six sessions of water safety, foundational swim instruction, and support for continued family fun in the water with complimentary pool passes.
Your donation will help us launch this program, teaching children not just how to swim, but how to be safe and active in the water. Together, we can reduce the risk of drowning, promote physical health, and create a community where every child has the opportunity to thrive in and out of the water. Will you help us make a splash for Kirkland's kids?
About the ProgramWe are developing a new initiative to give 2nd graders in Kirkland the opportunity to learn how to swim at no cost to participants. We are partnering with the Lake Washington School District (LWSD), PTSAs and WAVE Aquatics to expand opportunities for 2nd graders in Kirkland at one or more elementary schools to provide free learn-to-swim lessons. The specific schools will be determined in partnership with LWSD, the schools and their respective PTSAs. Initial candidates are John Muir Elementary (63 2nd graders), Robert Frost Elementary (80 2nd graders), and Thoreau Elementary (88 2nd graders) which do not currently have a swim lesson program through their PTSAs. Muir and Frost are both Title I schools (meaning a significant portion of students are low income). With funding, 65 -90 second graders from one of the schools will participate in a series of six learn-to-swim lessons during the school day at the Juanita High School Pool. During each session, trained and certified instructors will provide instruction in water safety and foundational swimming skills with a focus on having fun in the water. Children will learn essential life skills and get active in the water. Over time with community support and partnerships, we plan to expand this throughout the district.

We also partner with local schools to bring tennis instruction directly to students who might not otherwise have the chance to play. By breaking down barriers, you’re helping youth in our community stay active, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills. Your donation can give every child the chance to learn, grow, and thrive on the court.
About the Program
At TOPs, we believe that every youth should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of tennis, regardless of their economic circumstance. Our financial assistance program removes the financial barrier and ensures inclusivity for all participants. Through this program, we offer financial assistance and sliding-scale tuition to families in need, allowing children ages 3 to 18 to participate in our junior tennis programs, from beginner lessons to advanced training. We also extend our commitment to inclusivity through our school outreach program, which provides tennis instruction at no cost to local schools, reaching students who might not otherwise have access to the sport. We aim to remove the physical and financial barriers and aim to create a community where youth can learn, grow, and thrive through tennis.
About Tennis Outreach Programs of Puget SoundOur mission is "Empowering youth for lifetime success through tennis, education, fitness, and character development, regardless of economic circumstance." Tennis Outreach Programs (TOPs) was founded by USTA Hall of Fame Marceil Whitney in 2003 as a desire to give back to the community by reaching disadvantaged, at-risk youth as well as all kids and teens, using tennis as a vehicle for success.
Much of our playground is no longer safe for us to use and unfortunately, we had to remove our popular, dearly-loved swings. We need your help to install new equipment. This upgrade will not only benefit our students but will also provide an engaging space for the families in the Safe Parking Program, The Finnish School and Chinmaya Mission who also share the LWUMC space.
At The Kineo School we believe that play is essential for childhood development, fueling physical, cognitive and social growth. We serve a diverse student population and modern play equipment offers sensory-rich experiences for neurodivergent kids to develop motor skills and sensory integration. For physically disabled children, it provides accessible features like ramps and swings ensuring all students can play alongside their peers.
Your support will help create a safe outdoor environment that encourages active play, fitness and sensory development. It will provide a welcoming space for all community members to connect, exercise and build a sense of pride. Let’s build a joyful, safe, and inclusive playground together. Can we count on your support?

The Kineo School was founded in 2016. The co-founders, both educators, sought the best fit for their own children’s elementary experience. They created Kineo to fill an unmet need in the community for a school that provided hands-on, meaningful learning and a place for neurodivergent kids to be themselves. Since its founding, Kineo has provided children with a safe space to make and learn from mistakes, discover new ways of looking at the world and develop a love of learning.
